There lived so many saints in tiruvannamalai. Like how the birds are attracted by the trees which have fruits many saints attracted by annamalai. These saints came from far away to realize the god and themselves. And they stayed in Tiruvannamalai till they left the body.
In "Arunachala Mahatmiyam" (book which describes the history of tiruvannamalai) it is said the hundreds of saints and siddhars are living in and around of the mountain of tiruvannamalai which cannot be seen by ordinary eyes.
